Our second trimester Project Night was a huge success as students shared their projects:

- 6th grade: art projects showing the systems in the human body
- 7th and 8th grade: World Affair Challenge Posters and presentations related to the theme, Global Health".  From river blindness and Rotavirus in Africa to the need for water purification systems in third world countries, students became experts on world health issues.  Teams of River students competed in World Savvy's World Affairs Challenge at San Francisco State University with other middle and high schools in the Bay  Area on March 15. We're proud to announce that our students garnered numerous awards!

Students were to create 3 paper dolls that represented 3 social constructions of their reality and create different outfits for these dolls using two- dimensional materials. Two of the dolls were to be chosen from the following categories for social constructions: family/culture, gender identity, media, or social group. The third doll made by everyone was an "ultimate construction of self" doll. This was a creation that represented their ideal selves. Click here for a gallery of photos.
