RIVER SCHOOL WINS BIG AT THE 2006 WORLD AFFAIRS CHALLENGE

Seventh and eighth grade students of River School, Napa's only charter middle school, participated in the fourth annual academic competition, World Affairs Challenge, on Saturday, March 18, 2006 at San Francisco State. River students walked away with awards in all categories as well as greater knowledge of the world's most troubling issues. The teams, each with a student captain, spent weeks in class researching and preparing a formal presentation based on this year's theme, Conflict in a Contemporary World, selecting related topics of international concern to present at the event.

The World Affairs Challenge is administered by the Center for Teaching International Relations at the University of Denver and sponsored in San Francisco by Project Spera, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating youth, the World Affairs Challenge is recognized as a competition for honoring academic excellence and promoting global awareness in young people.
