POLICY REGARDING PERSONAL ELECTRONIC DEVICES

EXPECTATIONS FOR PERSONAL ELECTRONIC DEVICES AND CELL PHONES:

Electronic devices are not allowed on campus at any time. This includes music players, video games, video cameras, regular cameras and all other electronic devices. The ONLY regular sexception made is for cell phones due to the necessity of communication between parents and students. If a student wants to bring a camera to school for a particular event, permission must be given by the office.
Cell phones are not to be seen or used during school hours. Cell phones should be turned off so they do not ring or vibrate. They may NOT be on the student (not in pockets). They should be kept in backpacks or purses. [The abuse occurs when students have them in their pockets.]
Cell phones may not be used in the morning before school. Since parents have just dropped students off, there is no need for parent communication. If there is, the school phone may be used.
After school if parent and child need to contact each other, the phone should be used OUTSIDE of the courtyard in the designated waiting areas in the front and the parking lot side of the school. Cell phones may not be used by the bike racks. See map below.

Consequences are cumulative for any personal electronic device including cell phones:

MISUSE	PHONE	CONSEQUENCE	PARENT
First time	Device is confiscated.	Student receives a “beyond green slip” violation.	Parent retrieves device. Only the parent or guardian may retrieve it.
Second time	Device is confiscated.	Student receives another “beyond green slip.”	Parent is required to attend a conference with administration.
Third time	Device is confiscated	Student serves an in-house suspension for one day for defiance of school policies. Loss of privilege of having cell phone on campus for balance of the year.	Parent is required to attend a conference with administration.
Subsequent violations	Phone is confiscated.	Student serves an at-home suspension of one or more days for defiance of school policies.
