Rationale for Our Educational Program Design

To start designing an educational program that will accomplish our purpose and goals, we begin with:

Much of the program design and the underlying seminal ideas came from a program developed by Sr. Joan Madden, a BVM nun, and Dr. Raymond Corisini, an Adlerian psychologist, who collaborated in 1972 to create Individual Education[2] at Our Lady of Sorrows School in Wahiawa, Hawaii. Today, the program is called Ho`ala Education after the independent school that the current director, Linda Inlay, and Sr. Joan founded in 1986. Ho`ala in Hawaiian means “awakening of the self.”[3]
